F.T.C. Comes Down on Bamboo Fiber Claims - NYTimes.com

The cellulose used can be derived from a variety of trees or plants, including bamboo plants, but the fiber created is still rayon. It does not retain any of the biodegradable, anti-bacterial properties of bamboo, the F.T.C. contends.
