Laudium and Its Lurid Facts

A vivid description of Laudium, an Indian township in South Africa with
information about where to find all details like schools, restaurants,
businesses etc in Laudium.

Laudium is a residential area in Centurion, South Africa, which was
proclaimed an Indian township in 1961. Most Indians were forced out of
their homes in Pretoria into this new place where some of them built
beautiful new homes. As for its former inhabitants, older photographs
show remains of circular type dwellings of its former inhabitants, to
the west of Laudium. Laudium has 3 extensions which were completed in
1976, 1978 and 1983, respectively. Laudium was initially part of
Pretoria but it was incorporated into Centurion in 2000.

The original name for Laudium was Claudius, named after a Claudius
Marais de Vries who was the mayor of Pretoria at the time. Laudium has
both Hindu and Muslim residents, with a large number of mosques and
temples. There are also many recent South Asian Indian and Pakistanis,
who moved into South Africa.

Although unusual for a township yet, Laudium is a relatively wealthy
area with very large houses and people using luxury cars. It also prides
in having successful businessmen, media leaders etc. Laudium is prone to
sinkholes that sometimes cause property damage owing to dolomite in the area

There are a variety of restaurants, including Mohideen's, Muchachos,
Debonairs, Nandos and Wimpy, as well as some very good shopping centres
available here. One hotel is situated across the road from one of the
shopping centres.

Due to the fact that the majority of the residents of Laudium are
Muslims, all food stores sell halal food, prepared according to Islamic
Law. Muslims, Hindus and Christians live in Laudium.

Laudium has a quite a number of government schools. These government
schools mostly consist of Indian teachers, most of the pupils in these
schools are black and travel daily from black townships. The black
township lies directly north of Laudium, and the two areas are separated
by a large hill called Kwaggakop.

Laudium Sun newspaper is a free, bi-monthly that serves Laudium. It also
has a Muslim-oriented community radio station.

Laudiuminfo gives you a deeper insight into all these facts, history and
development of Laudium etc. The website provides extensive information
on various aspects about Laudium, which includes News and Events,
Religion and Culture, Education and Employment etc. You can learn about
the History, Development and Facts about Laudium here.

Apart from this you can also participate in Discussion Boards and Forums
with free registration that allows you to discuss on various topics like
religion, culture, associations, communities, welfares, groups etc.
related to Laudium. At the same time you can also be a part of the
Laudium community.

The website contains a Business Directory wherein you can find all
information related to the various categories as well as you can list
your business for free or advertise your specials with nominal price for
a large number of viewer access.

Although community isolation and crime are a major hindrance in the
prospect of Laudium's progress, yet the community is making every effort
and working towards the development of the township. Active
participation and working together would certainly help Laudium improve
and make it a better place to live in.

Laughing at the Indian Cricket Team

Even with top class players, the Indian team loses and loses so here are
some jokes directed at them.

Indian cricket is headed for a disastrous World Cup and only those who
wish to bury their head in the sand can think that they will do well
there. The pitches in West Indies are fast and the players (who anyway
have a tough time on such pitches) will succumb easily. They will
advance (I truly hope so) to the next round by beating the weak teams
but they will lose once again to the strong ones and they will find
ourselves out and forgotten very soon. So instead of feeling sad, the
only thing left for the fans to do is to joke about them. So here goes!

The story goes that there was a couple married for quite some time and
they had a boy of 5-6 years old. Their relationship was turning sour.
So finally it reached such a stage that they thought it was better for
them to be divorced than to carry on such a relationship.

So they consulted a lawyer. But the big question was who would have the
kid. In the hearing in the court it was decided that this choice should
be left to their son. So the judge asked "Son, would you like to stay
with your mummy?"

The kid replied," No, mummy beats me."
So the judge asked "Then, would you like to stay with your papa?"
The kid replied, "No, papa beats me too."

Now the judge was in a dilemma and was not able to decide what to do.
After pondering for some time he smiled with the ideas he had in his
mind about the child.

And he gave the judgment that the kid would stay with

Any guesses?

Come on I know you can guess this.

Ok here is the decision: The judge decided that the kid would stay with
the Indian Cricket Team because they never beat anybody.

And here are some one liners to pipe up your day:
Why do Indian babies cry and complain all the time?
They are practicing how to become Indian cricketers when they grow up.

What is an handcuffed Indian Cricketer called?
A cricketer you can trust.

What are the four words that will destroy any Indian batsman?
Did you bat today?

Why doesnt the crowd blink when Tendulkar goes out to bat?
There just is no time until he gets out again.

What is the difference between an Indian batsman and an Australian one?
100 runs.

What is the difference between batteries and Indian cricketers?
Batteries have a positive side.

How do you force Indian cricketers to run between wickets?
You place food on either end.

Yes, I know that some of these jokes are really putting the Indian team
down but considering their recent form (excluding the recent two
victories against West Indies which I think is more of a fluke than
anything else), I felt that I could say such things.

I cannot understand how such players such as Ganguly, Tendulkar, Dravid
and the rest can let the fans down time and again. Sometimes it seems
that they are not really interested in playing and that they <a
href="http://www.gambling-portal.com">gamble</a> away their wicket
easily. If that is the case then they should leave and let other more
able and willing youngsters take a shot. They will not fare much worse
in any case. What will they do? Lose. They lose anyway and to any
cricket playing nation in the world!

Laughter: Use It to Pick Up Women

One of the best ways of picking up women is by making them laugh. Here,
I supply some such funny stories to start up a conversation.

Humour, some say, is the fruit of life, and this is especially true when
it comes to picking up on a girl no matter where the location. Make them
laugh, and I guarantee, that you are very close to getting their phone
number and even to getting them to go out with you.

But, as we all know, making them laugh, is easier said than done.
Precisely for those who find it difficult to come up with something
funny to say, I am adding some funny anecdotes and wise cracks that you
can memorize and then use in those situations where you need to get the
girl in front of you to laugh.

1) The Prescription:
Did you hear of the lady, who walked into the pharmacist and asked for
arsenic?
The man behind the counter asked in wonder, "What do you need that for?
The lady calmly replied," to kill my husband."
The pharmacist was taken aback," Are you crazy? Do you want to get us
both into jail? And, anyway, why do you want to kill him? Go to a
counselor. Get help for your marriage."
The lady paused and from her purse she removed a set of pictures of her
husband and the wife of the pharmacist in some very creative postures.
The pharmacist looked at the snaps, put them down and smiled," lady, why
did you not tell me that you have a prescription?"

2) The Tip Book
A wife calls out to her husband, "Have you seen the book, 101 Tips to
Live for More Than a Hundred Years?
The husband sheepishly replies, "I burnt it."
"What?" the wife shouted out," why?"
The husband whispered back," Because your mother wanted to read it."

3) Range of Food
Looking at his wife fry meat balls in all kinds of shapes and sizes, Tom
tapped her on the shoulder, "Why?"
His wife turned," Because you asked for a variety of food."

4) Mushrooms
Tom was picking mushrooms from the forest floor with his wife, when she
picked up one and showed it to Tom," Is this for eating?"
Tom smiled," Yes. As long as you do not cook it."

5) Driving Around
Tom greeted his wife when she returned home," So, my dear, how was your
first time driving all alone?"
His wife smiled coyly, "Do you want to hear it from me or read about it
in the papers?

6) Drama
A couple are watching a film in their local theater when the wife
snuggles close to her husband and points to the screen," Do you think
that they will get married in the end?"
The husband sighs," Yes. These movies always have bad endings."

7) The Library
Tom visited the local library, walks up to the librarian and asks, "Do
you know where I can find the book, the Supremacy of Men over Women?"
The librarian conducts a short search on the computer and looks up," you
will be able to find it in the science fiction."

Conclusion:
While some of these might sound offensive, if you use them well you will
be able to display not just a sense of humour, but also that you are
exactly the opposite of the stereotype. How? Immediately, after you
done, lean over and whisper, But I am not like that, and if you allow me
to take you out, you will see that for yourself.

Law Enforcement Officer Deaths Decline

and less-lethal weapons.

Fewer law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2005 than in
previous years because of improvements in body armor, better training
and less-lethal weapons.

A recent report indicates that 153 law enforcement officers across the
nation died in the line of duty, marking a continued downward trend over
the past 30 years.

During the 1970s, more than 220 officers were killed each year, making
it the deadliest decade in law enforcement history. But with the
exception of 2001 and the high number of officers killed in the 9/11
attacks, the officer fatality rate has declined to 160 per year.

California, which lost 17 officers over the past year, had the nation's
most line-of-duty fatalities, followed by Texas, with 14, and Georgia,
with 10. These figures were released by the National Law Enforcement
Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and the Concerns of Police Survivors
(COPS), two nonprofit organizations. While deaths have declined, further
safety measures are called for.

"The fact remains that an officer dies nearly every other day, and we
need to stay focused on the measures that will protect their lives,"
said National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Chairman Craig W.
Floyd.

The NLEOMF and its partner organization, the International Association
of Chiefs of Police (IACP), noted the importance of body armor.

According to the IACP Dupont Kevlar Survivors' Club®, which tracks
incidents in which the armor has saved officers' lives, nearly 3,000
officers have been protected from potentially fatal injuries since 1975.

Because this is the second consecutive year in which traffic-related
accidents either equaled or topped gunfire as the leading cause of
death, the NLEOMF and COPS are calling for better driver training for
officers, safer automobiles, and a driving public that is more attentive
to officer safety when approaching accident scenes and traffic stops.

Every officer who died in the line of duty during 2005 will be honored
at a Candlelight Vigil on May 13, 2006, during National Police Week.

"When law enforcement officers die in the line of duty, their families
need strong support. Concerns of Police Survivors will be there for the
families who lost an officer in 2005," said COPS National President
Shirley Gibson, whose son, Police Master Patrol Officer Brian T. Gibson,
was killed in 1997.

The response of body to an invader substance is termed as allergic
reaction. There can be various kinds of allergies such as dust, pollen,
medicines, food, insect, viruses or bacterial allergy. The allergic
reaction may be a small skin rash on one spot or all over the body. The
reaction happened when immune system of the body is triggered by
substances called antigen. The function of immune system is to protect
the body from harmful substances like bacteria. When immune system sense
kind of harmful substances, it is called hypersensitivity which is also
known as allergic reaction.

Generally, allergic reaction is not dangerous to life but it may cause
end of life in sever cases. One of extensive form of allergy is
anaphylaxis which appears sudden and leads shock, problem in breathing
or unconsciousness. It happened because of sudden dilation of large
blood vessels. The blood pressure often drops under this condition, and
consequently, may cause cardiac arrest or death.

The appearance of less harmful allergic reaction varies from involved
body parts and intensively. The most common symptoms include skin
redness, itching, swelling, blistering, weeping, crushing and rash.
Other than the skin allergy, the symptoms may involve coughing,
shortness of breath, swelling of face, eyelids swelling, lips swelling,
tongue or throat swelling, sneezing, red or watery eyes, stomach pain,
vomiting and diarrhea.

The cause of allergic reaction is a chemical process inside the body.
The immune system contains white blood cells producing antibodies. When
antigen exposes the body, it causes reaction. The people with certain
problems such as allergic reaction in the past, asthma, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease, nasal polyps, frequent reaction to the
nasal sinus, ear or reparatory tract and sensitive skin, are more likely
to have fast allergic reaction.

The treatment of allergic reaction depends of allergy type. As a home
care treatment, to avoid food allergy, a person should avoid the food
that causes problem. For this purpose, prior knowledge of which food to
avoid is necessary. To avoid the seasonal allergy, necessary precautions
should be made at right time. Similarly, in case of skin allergy, the
particular area should be treated with ice or cold water. Applying bags
of frozen vegetables wrapped in a towel is also useful.

Learning the Language Of Love in Rwanda

If it's true that the eyes are the windows to the soul, then Vestina
Mukeshimana's soul must be singing. This precocious young girl's eyes
literally sparkle. But this hasn't always been the case.

If it's true that the eyes are the windows to the soul, then Vestina
Mukeshimana's soul must be singing. This precocious young girl's eyes
literally sparkle. But this hasn't always been the case.

Vestina was born in a farming community in northwest Rwanda in 1995. The
previous year, the country experienced a genocide that claimed almost 1
million lives, including Vestina's oldest brother. Soon after the war,
her father passed away.

Fortunately, in 2001 Vestina began participating in Compassion
International's child development program, which provides a safe haven
for thousands of Rwandan children experiencing loss after the genocide.

Compassion met many needs for Vestina, including covering her school
fees, providing soap, body lotion, even medical treatment and,
occasionally, extra food. The program also brought light into Vestina's
world.

Shortly after connecting with Compassion International's student center,
Vestina's family learned that a sponsor had been found for her. "When I
heard that you chose me from the other children," she wrote to her
sponsor, "I felt it was like a dream."

In 2002, another of Vestina's brothers died and her remaining brother
soon left Kibuye. Early the following year, tragedy struck again. "I am
very sad to tell you that my mother died on January 10," Vestina wrote
to her sponsor. She then moved to a group home. Fortunately,
Compassion's sponsorship program allows staff to care for thousands of
children like Vestina, orphaned by war or disease.

"It just melts my heart when I read Vestina's letters and hear about the
hardships she's endured," says Vestina's Colorado-based sponsor. "But I
believe the project workers in Rwanda are doing all they can for her.
Today, I'm more excited about being a sponsor than I was 20 years ago
when I started my partnership with Compassion. I'm convinced the program
works ... and works incredibly well!"

Enduring so much sadness, Vestina still is making remarkable progress.
This healing is evident in one of Vestina's recent letters to her
sponsor. "I am doing well," she wrote. "I have drawn a picture for you.
It is of myself, you and [my best friend] Ivona."

The colorful drawing is captioned with the only phrase Vestina can write
and pronounce in English: "I love you."

Leather Pants - Are They Your Choice?

Not everyone can wear leather pants. More importantly, not everyone who
can wear leather pants can find a pair that don't leave them looking
like they are attending an eighties theme party or convention of ZZ Top
fans.

Luckily, as the Internet expands more and more, local leatherwear
retailers and putting their leather pants, leather jackets and other
goods online. It is the only way to get unique, top quality leather
pants without paying a fortune.

There are leatherwear websites specializing in every type of leather
pants you can imagine. Whatever style of leather pants you prefer, you
are more likely to find them online than in your local shopping center.
Make sure the product specification matches the leather pants you are
looking for though, as the pictures can sometimes be unclear or with
distorted colors.

You can find the most sought after, highest quality leather pants
online. These are the type of leather pants that will look brand new and
gorgeous for decades after you buy them. Of course, leather pants of
this quality are seldom cheap, but if you buy them from a specialist
leather pants business it will be worth it in the long run.

Perhaps you prefer biker leather pants. There are hundreds of websites
that specialize in durable leather pants and accessories for this
lifestyle. Included in the goods available, for men and women, are
leather motorcycle jackets, leather vests and leather racing suits.
Clearly, the fit of these leather pants is vital; so ideally go for a
leatherwear business that will give refunds.

Vintage leather pants are also popular, and they are increasingly easy
to get hold of. Second hand leather is cheap online, either through
second hand leather pants websites, or auction sites which you can
search for leather pants. Some leatherwear websites even specialize in
WWII leather goods, such as pilot jackets and authentic leather pants.

Whatever you choose, once you have bought your leather pants you will
need to know how to take care of them. Newly purchased leather pants
should be treated immediately to prevent stains from water and other
liquids - as unprotected leather is one of the fabrics most susceptible
to stains. An overuse of oil or wax, however, can clog the leather pants
and stop the fabric from circulating air. You may have to buy a water
and stain repellent, which are also available online.

I would not recommend the use of household cleaning fluid, shoe cream,
mink oil or saddle soap to clean your leather pants, as these will
darken the leather garment. Treat the leather pants like your skin, and
always test a cleaner on a patch of the leather twenty-four hours before
applying to the whole leather pants.

If your leather garment gets wet, let it dry naturally at room
temperature and never put in a machine dryer. Applying a hairdryer to
the garment at room temperature is one solution if the leather jacket
has a faux fur trim. Just do not overheat any leather clothes, as can
make them shiny.

Lee Meekcoms Sees Housing and Recreation Trends Shift as Baby Boomers Enter Retirement

With the first of the Baby Boomers cashing Social Security checks, it's
not surprising that everyone from real estate investors to financial
analysts are sitting up and taking notice.

With the first of the Baby Boomers cashing Social Security checks, it's
not surprising that everyone from real estate investors to financial
analysts are sitting up and taking notice. The sheer numbers that make
up this generation – over 78 million according to the U.S. Census Bureau
– have made Boomers de facto trendsetters. "Baby Boomers have more
accumulated wealth than any previous generation, and they're positioned
downstream from a river of assets that they will inherit from their
parents," says Leon D. Meekcoms, President of Parkbridge Capital Group,
Inc. (www.parkbridgecapital.com), a privately held real estate
investment, acquisition, and brokerage firm. "Their financial position
and increased longevity are translating into decisive new trends in the
housing industry."

According to Meekcoms, whose career in real estate sales, acquisition,
and development has spanned more than 25 years, the most notable
recreational trend among the Boomer demographic are those who termed
"splitters," or people who have two residences. "Dual season residency
is skyrocketing, with people choosing to go north from the spring to the
fall and spend other half of the year in the south," he says. In
addition, close to a half million people live and travel full-time in
their RVs, with millions more dividing their time between RV travel and
a home base, often in a manufactured home community or RV resort.

In contrast to traditional "snowbirds," this generation tends to be more
active and, like their predecessors, is quite cost-conscious. They have
a reasonable expectation of living a quarter of century and longer in
retirement or semi-retirement, and don't want to outlive their money.
"While Boomers are affluent, they are smart about how they're going to
invest and spend, and will plan for the future," says Meekcoms.

This is one reason why Parkbridge Capital Group, Inc. has focused on
acquiring a portfolio of manufactured home communities and recreational
vehicle resorts. "People want the benefits associated with a mobile
lifestyle without the high overhead. In buying and upgrading these
properties to maximize investor return, we also provide tenants with a
splendid environment. In short, everyone wins," he says.

Parkbridge Capital is a prime example of a company that has positioned
itself to take advantage of the Baby Boomer wave. There aren't a massive
number of larger, quality manufactured home communities and RV resorts,
so the market forces of supply and demand are almost certain to force
prices up in coming years. In the meantime, the company's properties
also appeal to the growing number of Americans who want to vacation
closer to home or stay in the U.S. "Because of gas prices, people are
beginning to shy away from long trips, and prefer the amenities of
resorts that are within driving distance of their homes, or locales
where they can stay and recreate for the season," says Meekcoms.

As a Baby Boomer himself, he has an inside track on this trendsetting
generation. "On the whole, we have more time, more money, and better
long-term health prospects than previous generations. We want to enjoy a
flexible lifestyle at a cost that isn't extravagant," he says. "The
types of properties that our company acquires and owns with our partners
are a perfect fit for mobile, cost-conscious Boomers who want the best
of all worlds."

Life Advice: A Lost Friend Speaks

A dying friend taught me how to live my life. Read a short summary of
his teachings here.

When my friend sensed that in a few weeks the light of life was about to
be extinguished, and that there was no more hope for him, he called me
to his side and said, "If only I had lived my life differently, I might
not have felt such an emptiness now. Promise me," he caught my hand,
"Promise me that you won't make the same mistake." And when I asked him
what mistakes, he asked me to get a pen and paper and to jot down his
last words. Here they are in condensed form:

1) Talk less; listen more.

2) Listen to your grandfather's stories about his youth. When he's gone,
you will relive the bond through these memories.

3) Invite friend over for a snack or dinner even if the house is a mess.

4) Eat popcorn in the living room even though its messy.

5) Invite the friends who have children home. Don't worry about their
children creating a mess.

6) Sit on the grass even though it dirties your pants.

7) Never buy something just because it lasts for a long time or because
it is practical.

8) Stay in bed and at home when sick and stop pretending that the world
cannot go one without me for a day.

9) Light up the wonderfully crafted candles and let them burn out.
Better this than they accumulate dust in the closet.

10) Share life's responsibilities with a partner, not only expenses.

11) (Meant for Women) Instead of waiting for the pregnancy to get over,
cherish each moment in your heart. Understand that the life in you is
the only chance you will get to help god create magic.

12) Let your children hug and kiss you whenever they wish to. Don't stop
them by saying things like: later, go wash your hands first, we have to
eat dinner.

13) Say the following two phrases as often as possible: "I love you" and
"I am sorry."

14) Stop worrying about who loves or and who doesn't or about what
others have or don't have.

15) Cherish all personal human relations.

16) Play with a pet every day. Laugh and run with it and take part in
all its antics.

17) Spend more time with the people who love you.

18) Stop sweating because of all the small details and problems of life.

19) Grab every moment, look at it and live it. That moment will never
return again.

Her name was Susan, and she had one six year old daughter. Susan taught
me these few basic ideals that I have tried to follow in honour of her
memory. It has made me a better man, a much nicer husband and in
general, a happier person. Even now I can hear her say that God has
blessed each and every one of us, and that we should accept these
blessings and strive to become stronger both physically, mentally and
also emotionally. I will always remember what she said to me the last
time we met: "Jack, you are lucky. Don't blow it."

Life Advice: Looking Through a Window

Learn the true secret of life by gazing at any window or mirror. The
medium is simple, but the message - divine.

Living in today's metropolitan world of cellular phones, mobile
computers and other high-tech gadgets is not just hectic but very
impersonal. We make money and then invest our time and effort in making
more money. Does it end? Not usually because we are never satisfied. How
many times have we convinced ourselves that if only we had some more
money, life would be so sweet? But then, after receiving a substantial
raise, we realize that it wasn't enough and that we need more?

What Should You Do?
I have read many books on life such as Robin Sharma's Monk says this and
the monk says that, and they all seem to say that money is not
necessary. But it is. Can you do without cash and a lot of it? I know I
can't.

So, I went to the neighbourhood Rabbi and asked for advice that will
help me find my true way in life.

The rabbi nodded and took me to the window. "What do you see?" he asked me.

Promptly, I answered, "I can see people walking to and fro and a blind
man is begging for alms at the left corner."

The Rabbi nodded and guided me to a big mirror. "Now look and tell me
what you see?"

"I can see myself," I man answered.

The Rabbi smiled. "Now you can't see anyone else. The mirror and the
window are both created from the same raw material: glass, but because
on one of them they have applied a thin layer of silver, when you look
at it all you can see is your own reflection."

The Rabbi placed his arm on my shoulders. "Compare yourself to those two
pieces of glass. Without the silver layer, you saw the other people and
felt compassion for them. When you are covered with silver, you see only
yourself."

I looked at the Rabbi and stared. "I don't understand."

The Rabbi continued. "You will become someone only if have the courage
to remove the silver covering over your eyes in order to again see and
love others." He patted me on my back and sent me on my way.

I have thought of what he said and come to the conclusion that he had a
point. Yes. We need money and we should not aim to lead a moneyless
existence; its pointless and will only cause us and our families many
heartbreaks in the future.

Instead, I suggest that we should follow the advice the Rabbi gave me.
When we approach life through a silver covering, all we are able to see
is ourselves. But discard that covering, and you will be able to see and
feel everyone else.

Conclusion:
In life, we are allowed to and should be able to look at both kinds of
mirrors, but we should remember that a mirror reflects only us; a window
is the door to compassion, health and true wealth. In other words, seek
wealth by all means, but don't let it dissuade you from life, people,
children and the poor and needy.

Light Up Or Leave Me Alone

We are all just human. Each of us has our own set of character flaws or
character defects. There are many people that wear masks, if you will,
and they wear different ones for different people. There seems to be

We are all just human. Each of us has our own set of character flaws or
character defects. There are many people that wear masks, if you will,
and they wear different ones for different people. There seems to be
this mystification of projecting the "right" image to prospects in the
dating world. Lets be honest, do you really want to attract a member of
the opposite sex (or whatever your sexual preference might be) by
projecting a fantasy that Don Juan couldn't live up to? You can't keep
it up forever, and even if you could, it's not real!

This applies to many smokers out there as well; especially those that
are involved in the dating scene. Smoking seems to be one of those "red
flags" or "character flaws" we would just as soon not publicize to our
field of potential significant partners, at least in the beginning. So
many of us feel as though we are being forced to be dishonest about our
smoking just to be considered as a possibility in the eyes of that
"perfect match". The question here is; do you want to misrepresent whom
you are and what you do just to get a date?

Many people might answer this question with a resounding "yes"; I want
to project a fantasy that will attract the "perfect match" for me. The
thinking here is similar to the door-to-door salesman that just wants to
get his foot in the door and have the opportunity to sell his wares.
This might work to some extent for selling widgets, but experience has
taught me that there is one valued commodity that is absolutely
imperative to form a successful relationship: Honesty. In order to be
honest with another, you must first be honest with yourself. This is not
as easy a task as it sounds for many people.

According to the Freudian Conflict Theory in personality, we have "id",
"ego" and "superego" all busy at work within our psyche. All jockey for
position to dominate our thinking. Thus, our behavior is directly
affected in various ways at different times and in different situations.
The "id" operates within our psyche on the basis of pleasure only. It is
childlike in many ways, and according to the theory, it is the driving
force behind pleasure seeking. The superego is the morality or moral
guidance barometer of the psyche. This mostly comes from what we have
been taught is morally right or wrong. However, there is an innate
conscience component of the superego that is theoretically not governed
by what we have been taught. Then there is the ego; that self image that
we project to the outside world. The ego creates a balance between id
and superego. It saves us from being victims of our own pleasure. It is,
in essence, the caretaker of the id and the superego. As they each have
different goals, they are constantly in conflict with each other.

This sounds like a real mess. In many ways it certainly seems so. A
"normal" person is full of conflict about themselves and who they really
are. The theory makes it sound like we are all egomaniacs with
inferiority complexes. What does all this have to do with honesty? Well
it all comes down to perceptions. That is, our own self-perception and
the perception of others. We have a tendency to make comparisons of our
inner self with what we perceive to be the ideal self.

Or we may compare ourselves to others. In so doing, we may intentionally
misrepresent our actual self as our ideal self. Or, we may just flat out
lie about who we are and squelch the guilt.

As a smoker, I've been taught that smoking is wrong. It is unhealthy, it
is smelly, it is unattractive to the opposite sex, etc., etc. The list
goes on forever, and frankly, I'm tired of hearing it. I've come to
grips with my smoking. Even though it isn't something I am proud of, it
is a part of who I am. If I were to quit smoking, then that would be a
part of who I am at that time. I don't make excuses for being me and I
don't apologize for it.

Years ago when I signed up for a couple of free dating sites, I filled
in the profile information and hesitated when it asked if I were a
smoker. I put down "no" even though it wasn't true. Sure, I got matched
up with a wonderful person, but I couldn't enjoy any of it. I was so
preoccupied with the fact that I couldn't smoke (which made me want to
smoke even more) and the fact that I was already being dishonest with
this person that I couldn't focus on just relaxing and having a good
time. There was something odd about her behavior too. Sure, she was
nervous, but I felt it was something more than that. She was holding
back way too much. There was this "wall" between us. I didn't know why
at the time. I figured we were just incompatible and never called her.
By chance, I saw her again several years after our first and only date.
She told me that she was a smoker at the time, and had lied on her
profile. We had a good laugh about it when she found out that I was
guilty of the very same thing. Had we not both misrepresented ourselves
and had then been matched up, who knows how far it might have gone?

It's life-lessons like these that have brought me full circle to being
honest with myself. There are many more people out there just like me.
These are the ones who have come to terms with the dishonesty of it all.
Many of them have chosen to throw away the masks they wear for others
and just be themselves. This works well, especially when tempered with
some common sense. After all, there is no reason to be so blatantly
honest about meaningless things that may hurt someone's feelings. Being
honest doesn't mean you have to be cruel.

Recently I signed up at one of the newer free dating sites that
specializes in matching up smokers, I was surprised how many there are,
and how many hits I got right away. My new profile states: I am who I
am. I am a smoker. So either light up or leave me alone.

Lions Clubs Answer Call For Disaster Relief

When a tsunami struck Southeast Asia in December 2004, Lions were among

Lions Clubs International has a long record of aiding those affected by
natural and other disasters.

the first on the scene, providing immediate relief to the tens of
thousands who lost everything. Again, in August 2005, Lions demonstrated
how they answer the immediate needs of communities by rushing to assist
victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Through Lions Clubs International Foundation, Lions provide long-term
assistance, continuing after many other organizations have left the
area. Every dollar donated to LCIF goes directly to a grant. Since it
began in 1968, LCIF has awarded $356.9 million to help Lions serve others.

Lions mobilized nearly $12 million for tsunami victims. In the Aceh
province of Indonesia, Lions built 205 homes. They also plan to build a
school and fund "economic revival" projects such as fishing boats. A
$900,000 grant from LCIF is aiding Lions in Thailand in building an
entire village on the devastated Lanta islands.

In Sri Lanka, Lions are building 3,000 homes. Lions also will provide
psychological treatment and physical rehabilitation for children and adults.

Since many Southeast Asians lost their eyeglasses when the tsunami
destroyed their homes, Lions from California distributed recycled
eyeglasses and taught 125 Sri Lankan Lions how to use two donated
lensometers and run an eyeglass recycling operation.

Lions also staffed shelters and collected funds, food and supplies for
Hurricane Katrina victims. The Louisiana Lions Children's Camp in
Leesville housed and fed hundreds of people who fled north from New
Orleans before Katrina hit. Lions also helped at larger venues such as
the Louisiana State University gym and the Houston Astrodome, which
housed thousands of displaced people.

Health screenings are a traditional part of the back-to- school season
throughout the country. Eye screenings in particular are important for
children entering school for the first time, since vision and learning
are inextricably linked.

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, vision problems
affect one in every 20 preschoolers and one in four school-aged
children. Unfortunately, most children do not receive proper eye
screenings prior to entering school. Studies show that only about 20
percent of preschool children have their vision screened through
government or private programs.

Photoscreening is a screening method that uses a camera to photograph a
child's eye. It can detect conditions such as lazy eye, farsightedness
and nearsightedness, cataracts and misalignment of the eyes.

More than 430,000 pre-literate children in the U.S. between the ages of
6 months and 5 years have been photoscreened for such vision problems
through their local Lions clubs. Nearly 26,500 of them have been
referred for treatment.

These photoscreenings, which are done by trained volunteers, are a
cost-effective way to identify vision problems in children and have been
shown to be 85 percent to 90 percent accurate.

Vision disorders are the fourth most common disability among children in
the U.S. The earlier children are screened, the better the chance of
preventing permanent vision loss.

A child might be exhibiting signs of a vision problem if he or she:

* rubs his or her eyes often;

* has trouble focusing;

* blinks more than usual;

* squints when focusing on

distant objects;

* frowns excessively;

* stumbles over small objects;

* is sensitive to light;

* has inflamed or watery eyes.

If you notice any of these signs in your child, contact your doctor or
check with your child's school or your local Lions club for screenings
in your area.

Lions Clubs International - recognized worldwide for its service to the
blind and visually impaired - also dedicates itself to helping those
less fortunate in communities around the world.

communities. Investing time in Lions club projects gives members a sense
of connectedness to the community and an opportunity to make friends,
gain leadership skills and network with others while having fun. Lions
also provide opportunities for youth through youth exchange programs,
youth camps and Leo clubs.

From 2002 through 2003, Lions Clubs International's nearly 1.4 million
members worldwide volunteered an estimated 65 million hours and donated
$667 million. The organization was founded in 1917 and with 46,000 clubs
in 193 countries, it is the world's largest service organization.

Lions Clubs International Foundation, the grant-making arm of Lions
Clubs International, has awarded $342 million to provide food and
clothing to victims of earthquakes and hurricanes, give youth the tools
to succeed in the classroom, empower the disabled through vocational
training, and equip clinics and hospitals with new technology.
SightFirst, an aggressive $143.5 million program, is working to
eradicate blindness.

Live Poker: Pros and Cons of Participating in a Tournament

Learn why you should stop playing poker at casinos. Instead, opt for
satellite tournaments to really enjoy and also to really make money.

If you have had enough of playing poker with friends or with playing it
online and winning some money and then losing some money to only win
that money back again, then you have reached the stage in your poker
playing experience where you need to start entering live tournaments.
That is the real deal. No more long hours in front of the computer, no
more feeling guilty for taking your friends' money: you are now ready to
turn pro.

But, before you do, here are a few things you must consider:
1) One of the big differences of playing in a tournament is that you
need to pick you hands carefully. Spend most of your time throwing your
cards away at the right beginning. If you see that your cards won't
amount to much, fight the urge to exchange most of them, and just hand
them all in. This is what most tournament players do anyway. If you
don't believe me, watch the others play.

2) Money you take with you to tournaments lasts for a much lengthier
period than when playing with friends or online. This is one of the
advantages of not playing every hand you are dealt. (Hint: You should do
the same thing when playing with friends even though that then becomes
boring.)

3) Do not sit to the left of the dealer. Ensure that there are at least
two players between the dealer and the players to the left. Why? Only
the first 2 players seated on the left of the dealer have to place the
ante. Since, most of the tournaments involve ten players on each table,
you save this much each time you play. This also means that each hand
that you fold will mean that you have spent only half that of the lower
limit. This amounts to three dollars in a two to four dollar rake
tournament.

4) Take into consideration that the mere fact that you are away from
home means that you will spend money on food and drinks. Try and get
your own, but in any case keep it light.

5) Tournament dealers are not paid much, and so it' general practice to
give them about three percent of whatever you win. Consider that all
gambling halls and poker rooms also take a certain percentage but at
least this comes from the money you win and so you don't feel it.

6) One of the other advantages of playing in a tournament is that you
can use more money than you had. For instance, for a hundred dollar
sit-in, many casinos and poker rooms will give you about five hundred in
tournament chips to bet with.

7) If high odds and high risk is not what you are looking for you can
take advantage of the late night satellite tournaments. These generally
begin at one in the morning and since the number of players won't be
high, you stand a bigger chance of winning.

Conclusion:
Playing poker requires tremendous skill as well as come luck. While you
cannot depend on luck, improve your skills and your online casino or
other kind of betting account will show a profit.

Living Fossils

No doubt you have heard the claims from young earth creationists about

No doubt you have heard the claims from young earth creationists about
living fossils. A "living fossil" is an organism that is thought to have
been extinct, and then it shows up alive on planet earth.

The claim by young earth creationists is that these living fossils are
proof that the earth is young. The reasoning is that since all organisms
were alive only 4,300 years ago, before the time that they date the
Flood of Noah, then it is reasonable to assume that they are still alive
today.

I'm sure everyone is aware of the most famous living fossil, the
coelacanth, the fish thought to be extinct 65 million years ago. In
1938, a specimen was caught off the coast of South Africa, and since
then several more have been caught and examined. Besides the coelacanth,
Answers in Genesis gives several examples in the articles linked above.

Determining an Organism's Life Span

How is a fossil's life range is determined? When an organism is found in
the fossil record, paleontologists look for the oldest and youngest
specimen to determine it's life range. For example, if the oldest
specimen of a species of dinosaur is in a rock formation dated during
the Berrasian Age of the early Cretaceous, then the earliest this
dinosaur existed is about 140 million years ago (140 Ma). If the
youngest example of this same species is from the Turonian Age of the
Late Cretaceous, then it died out about 90 million years ago. Thus, the
dinosaur is said to have lived from 140 to 90 Ma.

After this date range is published, another sample of this dinosaur is
unearthed in a rock bed dated to the Santonian Age of the Late
Cretaceous. Does this mean the earlier dates were wrong...obviously. But
the wrong dates were not based on guesswork, but on a lack of complete
evidence. Now, this dinosaur's lifespan is said to be from 140 to 84 Ma.

Scientists make this kind of adjustment all the time. New fossils are
found, extending the known lifespan of the organism because of new
fossil discoveries.

There is no trick or deception on the part of the scientist...he/she is
merely interpreting the available evidence to reach a conclusion.

What happens when a fossil species is found to be alive, such as the
coelacanth? It's known lifespan is extended...that's it! It doesn't'
mean the earth is young, it doesn't even provide good evidence for a
young earth. For the coelacanth, its lifespan was extended from 400-65
million years ago to 400 Ma to the present. Nothing further can be
implied from this data.

In the case of our dinosaur, if it was found alive today, naturally the
young earth creationists would claim it is a living fossil. The real
scientific world would merely adjust its lifespan to 140 Ma to the
present. There would be no panic in the scientific world...they would
not wonder if the earth really is only 6,000 years old. The rest of the
evidence clearly indicates an old earth, and one living dino would not
contradict that.

The presence of a living fossil in no way is evidence for a young earth.
Yes, there are fossils that occasionally turn up living, but there are
millions more which are long gone, which went extinct millions of years
ago, and there is no evidence they are alive today. Therefore, we have
millions of extinct species, and a handful of so-called "living fossils"
which have a gap of millions of years in the fossil record. The evidence
strongly supports millions of years of extinction, and an old earth.

When a "living fossil" is found, YECs naturally jump on it and proclaim
it as proof of a young earth. However, when they grasp at this one straw
and bring attention to it, they are ignoring the 50 foot tall haystack
from where it came from.

Living In Harmony: Dealing With Dreadful Neighbors

Having bad neighbors is unavoidable. This, regrettably, is universal and
it stretches across all racial ethnicities. From the nicest suburbs to
the shabbiest areas of the city, the chance that you will have an
annoying person living in close proximity to you is very high. The fact
that neighbors sometimes can't get along is a common people problem and

Having bad neighbors is unavoidable. This, regrettably, is universal and
it stretches across all racial ethnicities. From the nicest suburbs to
the shabbiest areas of the city, the chance that you will have an
annoying person living in close proximity to you is very high. The fact
that neighbors sometimes can't get along is a common people problem and
you'd better know how to handle people; if not, you may very well be on
your way to the big house. Let's say you worked hard all day and have to
come home to the latest pimp movie soundtrack pulsating from your
ceiling; you may not be able to keep yourself from charging toward that
upstairs apartment, round house kicking the door down and bashing that
surround sound system in with a baseball bat. There are alternatives,
you know. Check out a list of my tips that just might keep you from
obtaining your new, pretty cell block number.

KNOW WHOM YOU'LL BE RENTING FROM

1. Before renting out an apartment, always check out the rental agency
or landlord you'll be renting from. Get online and do some research.
Online, there are a few apartment rating websites and if you must, (and
trust me, you must) talk to people who already live there. A majority of
the time, it's simple. Bad management does even worse business. There's
always a vacancy because no one wants to live there. In my opinion, one
of the best things you can do when apartment hunting, is get a referral
from someone else, preferably a friend. Okay, so you don't have any
friends; again, check out the place as thoroughly as possible before you
make a decision that can aggravate you for the entire length of your lease.

MOVE WITH CAUTION. THINK BEFORE ACTING

2. If you fell to your knees in praise when you saw the apartment, moved
in and didn't research your landlord, more power to you. Your neighbors
might be wonderful. That's great! However, if you moved in and now your
neighbors have become your worst nightmare, the seemingly easy way to
handle things would be to go to them and kindly ask them to turn the
music down, but be wary about doing this. Why, because it rarely works.
Sure, you might have a good neighbor who didn't know they were
disturbing you. In that case, you knock on the door and ask them to turn
their TV down. If they apologize and turn it down, your problem is
solved and life goes on. But, if you're like a ton of us who has
experienced the person who knows they are disturbing the peace and they
really don't care, your best bet would be to not knock on their door
because it will enrage them. More than likely, the music is going to
play louder and longer and you're going to be livid.

My suggestion is to document the time and the dates of every
disturbance. Then e-mail your landlord every time there is commotion.
The reason I say e-mail your landlord rather than call is because your
email is proof you asked the landlord to resolve this issue. I mean, it
is their job isn't it? In the long run, it will really help to print and
save all of you and your landlord's cyber communication because watch this:

DO SAVE DOCUMENTATION

3. If your landlord responds, "I already contacted your neighbor and you
all should be able to work it out amongst yourselves," you may need all
of that documentation to help get you out of your lease. If you're like
every other person who has ever called a Tenants Association or
organizations just like it, you may have contacted your landlord on many
occasions about the situation. Your landlord is about cashing rent
checks and they may not put out a rent paying tenant who is causing a
ruckus regardless of what your lease says about 'quiet enjoyment'.

I'm even willing to bet your landlord is sick of you and is now labeling
you as the 'troublemaker'. So don't think for one minute if you break
your lease and move, they won't still sue you for the money owed on the
remainder of the lease and you don't want that. Here's why:

LOOK INTO BUYING OR RENTING TO OWN A HOUSE

4. You may want to concentrate on getting your credit in order. There is
nothing worse, and I speak from experience, than wanting to make a major
purchase like a car or a home and not being able to because of a blemish
on your credit. Recognize early in the game that apartment living is not
for you if you have a problem with the sound of a herd of cattle
stampeding over you. Put yourself in the position financially and credit
wise, so when you're fed-up and ready to leave apartments behind
completely, you can make that move quickly.

MOVE ONTO BRIGHTER HORIZONS

5. Learn to let go of your place if you're unhappy. Stop going tit for
tat with your neighbors and stop calling your landlord. If you're
miserable, move. No apartment is worth the energy it takes to complain
all the time. To make matters worse, if you start to complain too much,
everything that you're fighting against, you will start to mirror. If
you're not careful, ultimately, you will become the dreadful neighbor.

HELP OUT MANKIND. REVIEW YOUR APARTMENT

Locating a child daycare

Day care also called a crèche in Queen's English, means child being
taken care of by a person who is not a parent or guardian of the child.
Day care is also termed childcare in some countries.

Day care also called a crèche in Queen's English, means child being
taken care of by a person who is not a parent or guardian of the child.
Day care is also termed childcare in some countries. Day care is not
only an issue about proper care of your child it becomes sensitive too.
Your small child is away from you and being taken care of by third
person. Obviously, you have to be careful while selecting day care
center for your child.

Location plays a vital role in selecting the day care center. You have
to drop your child in the morning and pick up in the evening. Your child
should not be penalized for traffic delays. Avoid evaluating a day care
facility on a Sunday. Try to do that on a weekday during peak hours.

Costs make up another critical components in day care facility selection
process. You shouldn't have any surprises later. You should know in
advance about all the costs involved. Try to cover all the costs so as
not to face any hidden costs in the later stage.

Consider all the infrastructure features at the center. What types of
other children are being enrolled into the center? What age group do
other children belong to. How many people are staffing the operations in
the center. Are there any back up facilities in case the main caretaker
falls sick. What type of civil structure the center is located at. Is it
enough for that many children?
Look for the timing of the center. You should carefully consider this
parameter. The timing must be in tune with your needs. You should also
try to know from the center about the state of childcare if you arrive
late from your workplace. Holidays and leaves also decide the
suitability of the day care center for your child. Some centers may
strictly be closed on all the key holidays while some may be open on key
holidays, but charge extra amounts for care facilities.

Carefully weigh the accredited and non-accredited centers. You should
know the reasons about non-accreditation. Ask for the training courses
undergone by the provider.Last but not the least plan in advance. Some
of the more successful day care centers may have a long waiting list.
You should assess your day care requirements in advance and therefore
register yourself. Always have two to three choices open before taking a
final call on selection.

Loss of a parent | How to Deal With The Grief!

Grief is a great mental pain that occurs after the loss of someone dear
to you. You will have to accept the fact that someone so close to you is
lost.

Grief is a great mental pain that occurs after the loss of someone dear
to you. You will have to accept the fact that someone so close to you is
lost. This pain is really tough to withstand and can't be brought under
control. Losses of loved ones like parent, children and spouse have
equal intensities of pain. When they are taken away from your life, you
will that, you have lost everything in life.
The emotional attachment between children and parents are so high that,
children depend on parents for anything and everything. They can't even
imagine a situation where their parents are not with them to live the
life. Even when children are grown up, they have a tendency to depend on
their parents for everything.
Children and parents share everything in life. They live with such
closeness that, children love to narrate each incident in their life to
their parents. When they share their thoughts and dreams, they feel that
they are not alone in the world. Hence the loss of a parent has serious
after effects on the life of people.
There are several people who loss their parents in their childhood
itself. This makes the child grow in a way that is not acceptable to the
society. Children have none to take care of them and they grow in an
irresponsible environment. The mental agony of the loss of parents can
conquer their mental abilities.
Loss of parents can even happen in the adult hood days. Most parents die
before their children. That is children in adult hood have to accept
that, the loss of parents are natural phenomenon and they have to live
with it. Children never like their parents loosing memory and fainting.
Getting old can't be accepted by them. When they try to cherish the days
with their parents, they will have to accept the realty that, it is no
longer going to happen. Every child likes to spend as many days with
their parents as possible. They love to discuss everything with them.
But when they understand that, there are no more days with their
parents, they cry out in vein.
Loss of a parent can cause great mental grief in people. They slowly
changes to people with extreme grievances. Once things go out of
control, there are no ways to bring back them in control. So they have
to learn to accept the realities of life. They must understand that,
life is full of uncertainties and this also is a part of that. It is
better not to deny the pain. When you intentionally try to deal with
pain, all the thoughts came up suddenly. So it is advisable to redirect
your attitude and thoughts to positive aspects of life.
Loss of parents is something that is not under the control of human
beings. It is a reality that all people have to accept and face. They
can seek the help of experts who will assist them in coming out of the
mental stress and pain.

Love - Begin With Vigor After Failure

Defeat in love is very disheartening. You love some body dearly and
he/she does not reciprocate your feelings at all. Or you have already
gone a long distance with someone and he/she goes alone after that.

Defeat in love is very disheartening. You love some body dearly and
he/she does not reciprocate your feelings at all. Or you have already
gone a long distance with someone and he/she goes alone after that. Any
failure in love and dating takes the strength away. It kills something
inside and the defeat makes another attempt look very difficult. Is this
acceptable. Can life not be carried on after such defeats? Why get
disheartened and blame ones fate? Why lower self-esteem? Why do all that
self-beating?

Success is not our right, nor failure our destiny. Life is a hurdle
race. Every life has its ups and downs. The winner is one who gets up
after falling again and again. You will say - Easier said than done. I
agree. Failure in love is very destructive. We invest quite a lot in
love. After that when we face defeat, we feel cheated and helpless. We
feel that fate has dealt poor cards to us. It is no doubt difficult to
bear the pain.

What should be done? Analyze why this failure happened/ if you find any
fault of your own, please correct it. If you find fault of your beloved,
please forgive. Begin making contacts again. Search for your soul mate
again. Have faith that this time you will get someone real good and
worthy of your love. Forget the past. Erase it. Look at it
dispassionately and res energize yourself. It is difficult, but it can
be done.

Thinking of past failure will only bring more pain. Visualize yourself
becoming successful. Think of all the good days that are waiting for
you. Think of a future that will be very bright. Fight every negative
feeling with something more positive. Don't give up. After every fall
rise again. Success will be yours.

Love - Forgiveness Is True Love

Most of the lovers do not forgive their loved ones. They may forgive
their sworn enemy, but they may not forgive their lover.

Most of the lovers do not forgive their loved ones. They may forgive
their sworn enemy, but they may not forgive their lover. Do you agree
with me? Why is this so? It should have been exactly reverse. Why, let
us discuss.

What is love? What do we understand by loving someone? How is love
different than other relationships and emotions? In love, we give our
whole mind and heart to our beloved. We try to keep our beloved most
comfortable. We take care not to hurt our darling. In love, we care for
each other. We are in the mood of giving in love. Giving always gives
more pleasure in love than anything else.

If our darling makes a mistake, shall we berate them? Shall we blame
them and give them pain? Shall we hold it against them forever? Shall we
call them betrayer? If we do all this then it is not love, but a
business relationship. I have given you so much now you give your truth,
faithfulness and everything else in return.

In love, we have to forgive. We have to pacify our beloved that mistakes
are a way of life and everybody does them. We have to tell them not to
worry and we are with them. We have to tell them to stop thinking of
what happened and think of good things and try to live life joyously.
But a majority of us behaves in reverse. That is our failure. It was
never love to begin with. If you believe that you love your darling,
please learn forgiving.

Love - Thoughts On Love

Love is the word that makes one go into dreams of bliss and the word
that can take one into pain. It all depends, how your love turned out.

Love is the word that makes one go into dreams of bliss and the word
that can take one into pain. It all depends, how your love turned out.
If you were stabbed in the back, pain will be the result and if you got
loyalty, it will be pleasure. When one looks at the scenes of
destruction of ones love, when one revisits the places where love had
blossomed, below the flowering trees, one goes in to the memories of the
lost love. It hurts and it hurts very badly. Similarly the love that
enriches us can be invaluable. It gives a new breath, a new life. Love
can give life and when lost, life may be lost. Call it addiction to love
or whatever, love is a feeling that cannot be described in words. it has
to be felt.

We hear about many break-ups and separations. What happened to the love
that brought the couple together in the beginning? How can ex lovers
talk of revenge? In love, there is no revenge. If your beloved stabs you
in the back, you will not ask for revenge, because you loved and you
still love. As I have yet to talk to someone who stabbed the beloved, I
do not know about his or her thinking, but it must be that of - how
could I do this? Or may be they are so evil that they applaud themselves
for their backstabbing!

Love is sublime. Love gives power. Love gives determination. In love,
many lovers do what they could never dream of. Empires have been
sacrificed for love. Battles have been fought for love. Love has ruled
mankind since ages. Those who experience love are truly lucky.

Love Test - Will You Dump Her Because She Is Taller?

Let us take an example of a couple. The girl is taller than the man.

together

Let us take an example of a couple. The girl is taller than the man.
They are both in deep love. They like each other and they want to be
together. But conventions say that man should be taller than the girl.
What should they do?

It is because of this belief that girl should be shorter than the boy,
that both will be repeatedly taunted by their friends and family. They
will be told that it all looks awkward. They will be obliquely advised
to separate. The world never lets two lovers live in peace. The world
always enters where it has no business. But the trouble is that we
cannot go away and stay on a remote island. We have to live in the
society and suffer.

If his pair marries, this fact will be pointed out by others and noticed
for their lifetime. Even unknown people who have no business will look
at them with surprise. That is the reality. In this scenario, what
should they do? Should they separate?

Some may opine that they should separate. In my opinion, they should
never. As far as they are comfortable with each other, love each other
and like each other, they should ignore all the innuendos and stay
together. Society has its collective reasoning that has developed over
centuries. One of this is that since man is dominant, he should be
taller. But society changes with time and conventions change with place.
What is not acceptable in one country is welcome in other. Apart from
all this reasoning, the central fact is love for each other. Till that
remains, the couple should continue life together.

Lucky Escapes From Terrorist Attacks

I have met many people over the last number of years in my business line
of work, stammering tuition, and have heard a couple of remarkable
stories of how they narrowly avoided a terrorist attack.

I have met many people over the last number of years in my business line
of work, stammering tuition, and have heard a couple of remarkable
stories of how they narrowly avoided a terrorist attack.

The first was a man who was in New York at the time of the attack on the
twin towers. He and his friends from England had been in New York for
around a week and were due to fly back home on September 11th. On the
tenth of September they decided to go to the twin towers, firstly to
have a look and secondly to take some photos from the top.

They had to wait a long time until it was their turn to purchase their
tickets. The man who was serving behind the counter asked the a
question: "Are you here to take photographs lads, or just a general look
around? If you are here to take photographs it might be worth waiting
until tommorrow, as it is quite cloudy up there today. I can sell you
the tickets today, so when you arrive tommorrow you do not have to wait
etc."

They agreed this was a good idea and planned to return early in the morning.

"What shall we do now then" said one of the group of lads.

They discussed the options and decided to go to a bar and to have a few
drinks. A few drinks turned into a lot of drinks. In the morning they
all slept in to recover from the alcohol and when they awoke they
quickly heard the news.

Alcohol had possibly saved their lives.

I met another man who had been in Bali on the night of the terrorist
attack there. He and his girlfriend had planned to meet another couple
in one of the bars which was eventually bombed.

Earlier in the day the couple had phoned to cancel as one of them was
ill. Another lucky escape!

Luxury of Flowers: Bargain Prices

The floors of Cleopatra's palace were said to have been carpeted with
delicate rose petals, but you don't have to be a king or queen to bask
in the luxury of flowers...

How to Brighten Your Home, Office, or Loved One's Heart with Beautiful
Fresh Flowers Throughout the Year and Spend a Lot Less than You Might Expect

The floors of Cleopatra's palace were said to have been carpeted with
delicate rose petals, but you don't have to be a king or queen to bask
in the luxury of flowers. You can enjoy the room-brightening beauty of
flowers throughout the year, or send flowers often to someone you love
for a lot less than you might think. Simply make flowers a part of your
everyday life, and keep on the lookout for bargains. Use these helpful
tips to get started.

Treat yourself once a month to a bouquet of blooms from your local
florist or supermarket. You'll be surprised how a $7 to $10 bouquet can
brighten any room.

While big bouquets are wonderful, a single perfect flower can be
exceptional, too. For an elegant statement, display an individual rose,
lily, or other gorgeous blossom in a bud vase or floating in a pretty
bowl. It makes a tasteful accent when entertaining guests, especially if
you're on a tight budget.

Most florists and garden centers carry delightful little blooming plants
in 4" pots that are surprisingly inexpensive and can add color and charm
to any desktop or vanity. Use your own basket, cachepot, or decorative
paper around the pot. Add a touch of ribbon, raffia, or other natural
accent for the finishing touch. Then, just keep the soil slightly moist
(never wet or soggy) for days or even weeks of enjoyment.

A few different 4" plants can also be combined in a basket for a
wonderful long-lasting garden. Use bits of Styrofoam beneath the pots to
position them at the right height, with a little Spanish moss on top to
help hide the pots and soil. Trim with a decorative bird or seasonal
accents. Voila! What if one plant should fade before the others? No
problem. It's easy replace any individual pot in seconds without any
fuss or muss.

Think roses are expensive? Think again. You can pick up a single rose on
your way to see someone for just a few dollars, and many florists offer
medium rose dozens at great discount prices. Summer is a particularly
good time for rose bargains. While prices vary depending on stem-length,
blossom size, quality, and variety, it's not uncommon to find take-with
rose bouquets for under $20 per dozen. And, with today's online flower
shippers, you can send a dozen long-stem roses almost anywhere by
next-day air for as little as $40 to $50, including delivery.

You'll find other fresh flower specials at most flower shops throughout
the year, too. Just ask what's in season and an especially good price.
Don't be shy. Good florists are proud to show you their freshest flowers
and best values. Market bunches are particularly good buys when flowers
are in season, such as tulips in late winter through early Spring and
farm-fresh Gladioli in warm summer months. Fortunately, cut flowers now
come from all over the world. So, there's almost always something
special in plentiful supply.

Build your own bouquet. Whether for your own use or to give as a gift,
individually selected flowers in a casual bunch or arranged in your own
container can make a wonderful impression. Remember all those vases and
bowls in your basement? They're reusable. So, put one to use today.
Remember to choose flowers in coordinating colors. Include some foliage
and "filler" to complete the look. A natural cluster in a clear vase is
a good place to start, but don't be afraid to experiment and use your
imagination.

Remember, some flowers and foliages dry beautifully. Favorites include
Yarrow, Baby's Breath, Solidago, Cattails, and all sorts of wildflowers.
All you need is a warm, dry place with good air circulation. Most
flowers and herbs dry best when hung upside down in bunches. Use a
rubber band to fasten them together a few inches from the stem ends.
Remove excess leaves, and avoid direct sunlight to minimize fading.
Then, wait two to three weeks. Discard any that don't meet your fancy.
Spray the remainder with clear lacquer or hairspray to preserve them
even longer.

For home decorating, don't forget silk flowers. They cost a bit more but
last for months or even years. And, you can easily match them to your
decor. Simply take a few pillows or fabric swatches to your local
florist or craft store to pick out just the right shades. You can even
change looks seasonally. Just store any unused silk flower arrangement
in a plastic bag in your attic or basement, and it will be just as
beautiful next year.

Bring the outdoors in. One of the best resources for fresh cut flowers
is your own yard or garden. Clip a few blossoms, branches, or blooms
weekly to enjoy inside your home. After all, why should all the flowers
be outside your windows? You deserve some inside, as well.

In fact, that's what the luxury of flowers is all about -- remembering
to bring the outdoors in. It's about a bouquet here, a colorful blooming
plant there, and perhaps an individual blossom tucked somewhere else.
But above all else, it's about sharing flowers with others. So, treat
yourself and someone special to the luxury of flowers this week. It
doesn't have to cost a bundle. All it takes is a little care and
thoughtfulness.

In the 21st century, a growing number of men are becoming interested in
different types of magazines. Historically, it was assumed that men were
drawn primarily to magazines that were devoted and dedicated to sports.
Of course, when it comes to magazine subscriptions for men, sports
publications remain at the top of the list. Sports magazines remain very
popular with men the world over.

In recent years, sports magazines have faced stiff and growing
competition from men's magazines that deal with health and fitness
issues. Indeed, over the course of the past two decades, there has been
a dramatic increase in the number of men's health and fitness magazine
subscriptions that are sold each and every year.

Of course, there are more mature magazines for men that continue to sell
decently in today's world. However, and with that said, the heyday for
these more adult oriented magazines seems to now be in the past with the
Internet taking the place one held by these types of publications in
many parts of the world.

A fairly recent development involves entertainment magazines that are
geared towards a male audience. Traditionally, most of the entertainment
magazines tended to be developed in favor of women the world over. In
recent times, more and more men are expressing an interest in regard to
some aspects of the entertainment world. Thus, there is more of a
presence of magazines dedicated to providing to men information about
entertainment related topics.

Car magazines remain very popular with many men the world over. Hundreds
of thousands of men from nearly any country on the planet can be found
subscribing to men's magazines dedicate to automotive related issues,
features and stories.

There are also now on the market some travel magazines that cater to
men. Primarily, these publications tend to cater to single men who are
interested in meeting members of the opposite sex through different
travel situations. These men's magazine subscriptions have increased in
popularity over the course of the past ten years.

In summary, in this day and age there is an every growing number of
men's magazine subscriptions available to males from around the world.
While women's magazines of different types have been prevalent in the
world for years, men's magazines are beginning to give these
publications for females a run for the money in many countries the world
over. In short, men can find what they are looking for when it comes to
men's magazine subscriptions in the 21st century.

Magic Spells - Do They Really Work?

For thousands of years, civilizations all over the world have relied on
their faith in spiritual or mystical powers to accomplish truly amazing
feats. Long before modern medicine came on the scene, most health
concerns were traditionally handled by applying a dose of spirituality,
voodoo, witchcraft, astrology, or psychic power from any number of
paranormal sources. One simply couldn't get through the day without help
from the "unseen" world. Of course, that was in the "dark ...

concerns were traditionally handled by applying a dose of spirituality,
voodoo, witchcraft, astrology, or psychic power from any number of
paranormal sources. One simply couldn't get through the day without help
from the "unseen" world. Of course, that was in the "dark ages" before
we were enlightened by the miracles of modern science. But is it wise
for people today to scoff at all that seemed to work for so many people,
for so long?

In a world where mainstream religion is often mocked, it's easy to laugh
at those believe in the powers of the paranormal, occult, magic, psychic
or new age remedies. We often label them as misguided kooks or blind
followers of today's trendy Hollywood scene and counter-culture. But as
humans, it is built into our composition to search for truth, and
solutions to the many problems we face. And let's face it, today's world
is filled with day-to-day problems that we strive to overcome... issues
dealing with love, money, health, just to name a few. Life is a
difficult struggle for millions of people worldwide who seek relief, and
solutions to their problems by turning to magic spells. Just go to eBay
and do search on love spells or magic spells. You'll find an endless
potpourri of psychics and spell casters who can make your problems
disappear, or bring you amazing results for just a few dollars. Think
that's funny? It gets better. When asked, most people who buy these
spells will tell you that they really work... and they do.

So how can a love spell performed by a psychic actually attract a soul
mate to a lonely person seeking a love partner? Did that money spell
really make that struggling secretary get a job promotion and a salary
raise? And what about that healing spell that cured my neighbor's back
pain? The unbelievers will likely point to coincidence, some sort of
logical explanation, or attribute the results to simply "mind over
matter." But those who believe in psychic powers and the paranormal
world think otherwise - there must be a spiritual or metaphysical
helping hand involved.

As a self-professed psychic and paranormal expert, who has studied
spirituality, psychic phenomena and the art of spell casting, I
personally believe that there is much more to this than meets the eye.
Most mainstream religions accept the power of prayer as a way to receive
blessings, protection and goodness from spiritual sources. Even medical
professionals are now recognizing that an individual's faith and beliefs
can play a major role in improving quality of life and health. However,
while many doctors will admit that there is some benefit to holistic and
alternative medicines, you'll be pressed to find any who will publicly
encourage seeking answers from a psychic or magic spell.

There has always been, and will always be something about the stigma of
going to a fortune teller, psychic or spell caster that keeps people
from easily accepting their virtues. As an industry, the psychic
business has brought on much of this skepticism itself. Shoddy late
night television infomercials for psychic readings, con artists or
carnival fortune tellers are the images that come to mind for many, when
they think of psychics. Just look at how astrology and other
psychic-related ads have that tiny disclaimer at the bottom that says
"for entertainment purposes only." It's about as phony as pro wrestling,
right? Well, don't be too quick to agree.

There are more people than you think who use money or love spells on a
regular basis, in an attempt to restore a bad relationship, or gain
financial freedom. And these are folks from all walks or life,
professions, income levels, religious affiliations and nationalities.
Sure, some may rely too much on seeking guidance and help from the
psychic world, but most of them are die-hard believers of the occult and
would not have it any other way. They will tell you that these spells
work for them, their lives have been enriched, and you are the foolish
one who doesn't know what you're missing.

People always ask me, "Are these spells real? I mean, can they actually
make things happen that I can't do on my own?" If spells can do what
they claim they can do (improve love life, attract more money, better
luck at gambling) then the answer has to be "Yes." A spell that does
what it is supposed to do has got to be real. Of course, it helps if you
have a positive outlook, and believe that the spell can truly help you.
But if the spell delivers results, then it has to be real. Believers
will tell you that those who refuse to open their minds to the
possibilities of magic spells and spiritual solutions will never know
what they are missing. Perhaps it is the unbelievers who are
experiencing "mind over matter," only their mindset is narrowly fixed on
the opposite end of the belief scale.

Why limit your world to just the few things you can see and touch? After
all, what you see isn't always what you get.
