Presently, farmers in many parts of the low lying state of Himachal Pradesh (such as Bilaspur, Kangra, Harmirpur, Sirmaur and Una) are unable to freely harvest bamboo. Before this action, bamboo was classified as a timber in India meaning that it fell under the control of the HP Land Preservation Act and therfore needed a permit to harvest.....
