LMFAO, Will.I.Am, Nas and Damian Marley, David Guetta, Major Lazer and A-Trak are among the artists performing at this year's Winter Music Conference in Miami.

The WMC has been the most important electronic music festival in the U.S. for the past 25 years. Typically it has been a place where names like Paul Van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and DJ Tiesto have held court, spinning four- to six-hour sets for their fans. However, a few now-household names first got their start at past WMCs. Back in 2008, a then relatively unknown artist graced the stage of the Armani Exchange Pool Party at the Raleigh Hotel — Stefani Germanotta, otherwise known as Lady Gaga. LMFAO also have the WMC to thank for bringing their music national attention.

In their first interview with MTV News in April of last year, just a month after their performance at the Conference, they explained how fast their music caught on.

"Before we ever went to Miami, we made the song called 'I'm in Miami Trick,' " Sky Blu explained. "We went to a place called the Clevelander — they played our song and by the second chorus people were singing along with the song like they already knew it. And this had never been played in a club. It had never been played outside of the speakers at our house."

The single would go on to peak at #51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and since then the guys in LMFAO have released the singles "La La La" and "Shots," joined the Black Eyed Peas on tour and even managed to get into a bizarre skirmish with Mitt Romney.

But it was at the Winter Music Conference where the two first felt a sense that they were onto something.

"We are at the Winter Music Conference," Redfoo said. "Where travelers and DJs from all over the world are coming. People were singing our song that didn't even speak English — because partying is universal."

LMFAO are planning to do it all again, only this time on a much bigger scale — the guys will be taking the WMC stage for the Ultra Music Festival. The UMF at Winter Music Conference will also feature the likes of Will.I.Am, A-Trak, Major Lazer, Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Passion Pit and many more.
