Yesterday, news came out that a contestant who made the Top 24 on American Idol was given the ax because he was supposedly "ineligible" to participate. We now have more information of what went down from Chris Golightly himself and we've got to say, he really got shafted!
Basically, the Idol producers received an email shortly after it was announced that Chris made the Top 24 from his Chris' manager, saying that he was under contract with another studio. That pissed them off and Chris was called to be told he was disqualified.
But the truth of the matter is that Chris is NOT under contract, as that deal was terminated a month before he auditioned for Idol. That same day, Chris' manager contacted the producers again to clarify the mix-up, but by that time, a new contestant had been chosen.
Chris says that he has been desperately trying to rectify the situation for himself, but once you are out, you're out! Chris says:
"Since then, I've left them voicemails, but they've screened my calls. They don't even answer me. Nobody."
Tough break, but maybe all this publicity will help you score another record deal. Doesn't hurt to hope after your dreams have been steam-rolled.
Hope you fired that manager of yours too! Big mouth!
